The human quest to seek knowledge, satisfy one’s sense of wonder, develop more abilities, connect with others and understand society is integral to research. As the world continues to evolve, doing research becomes more important as a skills with enduring rewards.
Research and development department of Sang’alo institute of science and technology (SIST) was established in order to conduct research and encourage the conduct of research which enlarges the province of human knowledge in general and create an enabling environment for research and innovation. The department is headed by research coordinator. To operationalize the department, each admitting department is represented by a departmental representative who spearhead research activities at their departments.
The department seeks to fulfill an important aspect of the institute’s mission as an academic and research institution. The department recognizes research as an integral part of the Institute’s Mission, Objectives and functions. This is realized through promotion of research among institutes staff and trainees by enhancing training in research methodology. Staff and trainees have presented research papers in various forums at regional, national and international levels. Research findings are also disseminated to various stakeholders during innovation week which is observed in March yearly. The department also undertakes consultancy services in carrying out surveys which include customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, work environment, HIV drug and substance abuse.
