There is need to note that jobs and career development have become very competitive. The world has impressed Science, Technology and Innovation and this demands that one need to have a unique niche in his or her professional growth in order to remain relevant. It should be remembered that Kenya’s capacity to compete in global market will greatly depend on the ability of her people to innovate and apply the relevant technology for growth and development.
Innovation is a key area of focus by Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology (SIST). To support the realization of her vision and mission, the Institute established Innovation office head by Innovations coordinator. The Innovation section has drafted an IP policy that will be used in guiding the operation of the Innovation activities in the institute. The Innovation section, through the institute, is keen to work with local communities, regional and international stakeholders for the mutual benefits for all concerned actors
In promoting Science, Technology and Innovation activities in the Institute, Innovation week was initiated by Board of Governors to be organized by Innovation section in liaison with research office. The innovations are patented before being internally exhibited and assessed by external and qualified assessors for purpose of a warding trophies and certificates. The first three per category proceed for regional exhibitions.
The institute has produced some of the best Innovations that have attracted the attentions of great personalities, among them the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, CS for education Dr. Fred Matiang’I, CS for Environment Prof. Judy Wakhungu, Governor of Vihiga County, H.E Gov. Moses Akaranga, PS MoEST Madam Prof. Collette Suda among many local and foreign people.
